A tribute to Nikki Walker
Yesterday morning at 5:30 a.m., my phone buzzed with a text from my dear friend Sidni Shorter:
“Call me.”
I called immediately. What came next changed everything.
“Nikki has died.”
I couldn’t breathe. I couldn’t think.
I just sat there, holding the phone, stunned by the finality of those words.
Nikki Walker was more than a friend—she was a sister in spirit, a soul companion, a wise teacher, and a radiant light in my life. The realization that we’d never again laugh until we cried, hug each other deeply, or share our inner truths in the middle of the night… it crushed me.
But as I sit in this grief, I’m also in deep gratitude. Even in her passing, Nikki is teaching me. In fact, the last 24 hours have gifted me with some of the most profound life lessons I’ve ever received.
Life Is Fragile — Never Take Connection for Granted
We say that life is short, but we rarely live as if it is.
Nikki’s transition reminded me that every moment of connection is sacred. Every conversation, every laugh, every embrace could be the last. And so, from now on, I vow to:
- Leave nothing unsaid.
- Love without hesitation.
- Show up fully.
- Make space for presence and truth.
Because that’s how Nikki lived. And that’s how I want to live now.
Leave Nothing on the Table
One of Nikki’s gifts was her authenticity. She didn’t hold back. She said the things that needed to be said. She showed love boldly. She stood for truth, oneness, and deep, meaningful living.
In her honor, I will leave nothing on the table—not my voice, not my gifts, not my love, not my purpose.
Embracing My Inner Nikki
To “embrace my inner Nikki” is to live with courage, compassion, laughter, and soul.
It’s to be unafraid to cry, to dance, to disrupt, to dream, and to connect.
So today, I say thank you.
Thank you, Nikki, for your life, your legacy, and the lessons you’re still teaching me.
You are, and always will be, simply the best.
